Ironman and The Lego

This Halloween our boys really seemed to get into the spirit. Brayden selected from his many superhero costumes and in the 11th hour decided to dress like Ironman. Blake’s costume cost all of $6 dollars to make and it was a hit. He decided to go as a green Lego. He was a trooper. The Lego (box) prevented him from ringing doorbells or being able to put his hands together to put his candy in his bag. Nonetheless, he insisted he wanted to wear his costume until the night’s end.

We made it up and down our street (which is progress with two little ones in tow) with our next-door neighbors and their kids. Our street is like none other. Two haunted houses and two haunted yards and this is before you even leave the street. The amount of kids and parents in the area is hard to imagine. Grandma stayed behind to hand out candy and used up a bag of 350 treats, combined with other candy to track how many kiddos came through. After the bag of 350 was depleted she gave up counting. Yes, that means we had more than 350 trick-or-treaters. It has been like this since we moved into this house. We get excited about the traffic and hope to see it grow. It sure helps that we have so many neighbors that do it up right for this festive holiday.

In the end, the kids are still more about the trick or treating than the candy. They probably ate about 5 pieces total between them. This is good and bad. The bad is mom and dad pick up where they left off.

Next year, we will have to work on a new candy disappearing act.
