Cup of Java Please

You know, coffee is a funny thing. Some people love it and some people hate it. I however fall somewhere in the middle. During college we would hold late night study sessions at Perkins, and I’d partake in their endless Cup of Joe. For those of you that are wondering, yes, I actually did study in college. In my post college years I never really drank coffee all that often. Of course every now and then I would get a fashion coffee at Starbucks, but I never really counted this as coffee.

When my first son, Blake, was born, the coffee craving hit me. I think my body told me I would need caffeine to get through this. My body was right. Besides if you can drink a cup of black coffee from a pot in a hospital cafeteria you know you are on the road to addiction. I certainly was. However, I still only drank coffee at work. We didn’t have a coffee maker at home and work coffee was just fine by me so the need was not there.

Jump forward a few years and I started needing my coffee fix on the weekends. This led me to start looking for coffee makers, you know those cheap 2-4 cups Mr. Coffees at Target. Even as cheap as they are I could never convince myself to purchase one.

A few weeks ago the family and I attended our Church’s yearly carnival. They had raffle tickets on sale for several items. We filled out several tickets, around $20 worth. We were hoping for the weekend family getaway to Sea World in San Antonio. We left thinking, you never know. Two hours later I get a call from the Church telling me I had won the Java package, meaning a deluxe coffee maker and a years supply of coffee. It is a Capresso brand  coffee maker and it is awesome. Then again I’m comparing it to a 2-4 cup Mr Coffee. Come on it grinds fresh beans! How cool is that?

Of course Judy wanted the Sea World excursion, but even she is impressed with the coffee maker and has started drinking some herself.

Whoops gotta go, just heard the coffee maker finish percolating. mmm coffee!
