It seems like we went from our little guy holding up a proud three fingers to him now holding up a proud four. How does this happen so quickly? This year he mastered potty training, learned to spell his name and so many other preschooler tasks. He is now turning the corner from toddler to preschooler. Exciting!
This year he elected to have a “Star Wars” themed birthday party. It seems he somehow picks up Star Wars knowledge through osmosis and has become a walking encyclopedia of all things Star Wars. We lucked out, as he wanted his party at Mc Donald’s this year they had Star Wars themed kids meals. How perfect! We had a special star wars themed cake made and it turned out even better than expected. With his friends in tow he had a memorable and fun birthday party. His cousin was able to make the journey to help celebrate which made his day even more special!
As he opened gifts each one was met with a “Wow, I wanted this!” He seemed delighted by the thoughtfulness of others and played himself to exhaustion after the party along with some family friends that came into town.
He has sprouted up and is looking more and more like a little boy. He started T-ball and has developed an interest in Lego’s and puzzles. He loves to play and play for what feels like an eternity, making up characters and playing out roles, even if his characters happen to be a few Lego’s stacked together. Most recently I got the warning when I elected to put some Lego’s away. “Mom! Don’t! Those are all my fire fighters. This guy climbs the ladder (pointing to a few non dis-script Lego’s). This one drives the truck” etc.. So fun to watch him create.
Wonder what this next year will bring us. Better keep our eyes open for fear this year will fly by, too!
