During my latest work trip to the state of New York I was finally able to make it into New York City. All the other times I had been there my time was always spent on Long Island. I have no complaints about the Island but the city is well, The City.
We took a train into Penn Station and a few subways to Little Italy where we had dinner. The train and subway were just as I had imagined. A little crowded and chaotic, but this was to be expected. On our way to Little Italy we walked through a portion of Chinatown so I was able to see some of the knock-off goods and wears. Thank God my wife was not with me, we would have been shipping home a ton of purses.
After dinner we went to Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Both I assume are first stop tourist staples in NYC. Especially during the holiday season. Times Square was what can I say, Times Square. You really have to experience it first hand to understand it. Rockefeller Center was really cool as well. Albeit a lot smaller than what is presented on television. TV camera angles sure can mess with the mind.
My first trip to the city was awesome and you only get a first time once. Next time, hopefully, I will have some time to visit the stores in Times Square, catch a show, and maybe have a beer at McSorely’s.
They say first impressions are important, well NYC you did good!
