2021 in Review…
As we come to the end of 2021 we would like to say how thankful we are for another year of health and the support of family and friends. We feel this year is ending a bit brighter than its predecessor. There are moments we miss from 2020, having the kids here for home school and meeting for “family lunch” in the kitchen. We miss the ability to binge-watch Netflix and enjoy a slower pace of life. Nonetheless, we are happy to be back to the “hustle and bustle” of life with a tween and a teen.
This year we took a few fun trips and enjoyed dusting off our passports a bit. For Spring Break, we headed to Galveston and enjoyed some time on the beach. Water is good for the soul! We had some friends meet us down there and had fun being able to hang out and enjoy some surf and sun.
In July, we went to Cancun. It was the first time the boys had been there. We went to see the Mayan ruins and “Buena Vida” of beach days and clear blue seas. The kids especially enjoyed swimming until dusk and being able to eat crepes and ice cream each night. Not traditional Mexican food but a fun resort treat for sure!
In December, we ventured to NYC for Christmas. Making it a first for all of us to watch the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular[1]canceled, to check out Rockefeller Plaza and the 5th Avenue Christmas Windows, along with a Broadway play and a Knicks game, just to name a few fun stops in our travels.
On a home front, Brian continues to work for Anodot. He no longer has a commute, as he has worked from home over the last few years. His company is based in Israel and he is one of the few located in the US. It has been fun getting to know others from different backgrounds and cultures around the world. He ended the year with a quick business trip to the Seattle area but had not traveled since the beginning of 2020. He continues to enjoy running. He is a “die-hard” out there in the wee hours of the morning, rain or shine. He especially enjoys his philosophical discussions with his running buddies each weekend. He also competed in his first trail run, a 25K in Palo Duro Canyon. He said it was hard, but fun and absolutely gorgeous.
Judy has continued to practice both remotely and in person. She continues to see a number of patients via telehealth but is also back in the office and able to resume play therapy after putting it on hold during 2020. She continues to enjoy supervising and seeing a variety of patients and loves being able to set her schedule so she can have some weekdays off to run errands and enjoy lunch with friends.
Blake decided after a year of online schooling if he was going to make a change this would be the year. He transferred to a neighboring school district. He is in the National Junior Honor Society and has enjoyed doing community service hours to help others in our area. He is taking a rigorous course load but decided to try a few new classes this year. He really enjoys being part of the Yearbook and Media programs at his school. He likes to write and has enjoyed having some featured articles this year.
Brayden is enjoying his last year of elementary school and being the “big kid on campus.” Like Blake, he enjoys learning. He is usually busy hanging with his friends and playing video games when not playing basketball and baseball. Brian realized Brayden can now “school him” in basketball, which is a day he thought would be more remote. He is in his school’s choir and yearbook committee.
We look forward to the year ahead and wish you and yours all the best for this holiday season and the chapters to come.
The Clancys
