Thanksgiving day started out early with a 7am wakeup call for my brother-in-law and I as we made our annual pilgrimage to downtown Dallas to run in the Turkey Trot. 8 miles in fairly cold and windy conditions with 40,000 other turkey eaters. The race actually went well, a little cold coming back across the bridge, but we finished. Of course I couldn’t catch my brother-in-law, but as I told myself when this started this was not a race. Damit!
Once back home it was family time. Time to play with the kids, and help Judy place the 19 lb turkey in the oven. That was a big bird. At 3pm it was time to plant my butt in front of the TV for a little football. Cowboys vs Saints. My cousin and his family came over along with my in-laws and brother-in-law’s family. All told there were about 12 of us, not a bad showing. At 5pm it was finally dinner time. We were all hungry. After my second, okay my 3rd plate and small, okay, large piece of pie I was ready to pass out. A long day, but a great day. The only thing I missed was the lawn football game. Blake, Brayden, and I are already starting to practice for coming years.
We have lots to be thankful for this past year. Our family, our faith, our health, and our friends.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
