Disney’s Marketing Machine

We attended a Disney Live event over the weekend at the Allen Events Center. The show was called  Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show. Now I will give it to Mickey and his crew, they do put on an entertaining show. Blake and Brayden really enjoyed the show and that is the important thing. No complaints from us.

However the amount of souvenirs, the cost of those said souvenirs and the process of pedaling them is amazing. You can definitely tell Disney knows what they are doing. $12 for a lemonade in a Disney cup, $10 for a Disney bucket of popcorn, $20 for a Disney neon flashing spinning doohickey-thingamajigger that I’m not sure would make it to the car.

They also had an intermission where they walked up and down the isles pedaling all of this stuff . If the kids and parents will not come to us, how about we go to them. Brilliant! This is where Disney really gets you, they use your kids against you. Luckily my wife and I were able to avoid the temptation which I call the persistent begging from our son Blake. Later that day my wife took Blake to Target and got him a Disney shirt for around $5 and he has worn it everyday since. Take that Disney!

Hey by the way Mickey, loved the show!
